Unique historically significant vintage fabric piece - over 3 yards:
- Charming early American sampler patterned material - by famous Eliza Ann Edwards 1826.
- Her work has been featured in the Brooklyn Museum and was the subject of a May 1961 Woman's Day reproduction sampler stitching chart. This chart was a modified reproduction of the authentic piece. See included photo for a look at the original inspiration for this fabric.
- I am guessing this fabric to date to the 1960's or 1970 just based on look and feel. It very well may have come out in conjunction with the Woman's Day project.
- This material displays motifs from Eliza's original stitchery and includes a capital alphabet, floral arrangements in vases, a colonial homestead, calico cat and kitten, and a needlework signature that reads ELIZA ANN EDWARDS HER WORK 1826
- Dark hunter green, pink, yellow, and brown shades printing on an off white background
- Would be perfect for curtains or a table cloth, in my opinion
- Ready and waiting for your next project, collection, and/or gift giving
ESTIMATED AGE OR ERA = True original authentic antique / vintage piece. I am estimating that this is 1960's to 1970's in age
METAL AND/OR MATERIAL = Unmarked for fabric content - it is a light to medium off white somewhat slubby fabric - similar feeling to a lightweight rough or loosely woven muslin - see pics
CLOSURE/CLASP = x
MARKS = None that I could find
MEASUREMENTS = Salvage edge to salvage edge is 42 3/4" wide across and the length of the fabric is aprox 112" - I took a little off the length number to adjust for uneven cutting, etc. So it may be a few inches longer
US RING SIZE = X
WEIGHT = X
CONDITION = Great condition for the age - no damage or quirks to mention. No stains, marks, cuts, holes, etc that I could find.
Please view & enlarge all photographs to closely inspect fine details and to determine the amount of patina, and/or wear. Most older pieces by nature normally have some degree of both and, unless severe, aren't considered damaged. I will do my best to note anything glaring or distracting. Utilize the scroll arrows beside the photos to allow yourself the opportunity to view them all. Pictures normally speak louder than words and individuals also interpret characteristics differently.
