Rare Old 14th Century 18k Solid Yellow Gold Mens Signet Monogram Initial FJK FTK Ring - Middle Ages Medieval Renaissance Jewelry c 1300 1350

Very old solid 18k gold signet ring:

~ Features a three letter monogram or initials that I believe read FJK or FTK

~ Rounded capital letter Lombardic script font - commonly used in the 12th, 13th, and 14th centuries or 1100's to circa 1350 and pre-dated the popularity of Gothic Script on signet rings

~ East west set emerald or octagonal shaped - clipped corner rectangular face

~ Scrolling designs highlight the initials

~ Indented dot border

~ Lovely etched or engraved shoulder designs add interest

~ Low profile finger-hugging design makes this very wearable as well as comfortable

~ Estimating that this is a rare late Medieval Middle Ages - early Renaissance period transition piece c 1300's - which would align with the historical use of the font up until the 1350's

~ In times long gone by rings such as this were deeply meaningful and so much more than just mere objects of decoration or adornment - or a fashion trend. Rings could created and represent agreements, connections, obligations, promises, commitments, and vows and used as personal identification, signatures, displays of wealth, denoted membership to a special elite group or organization, stood for honor, and symbolized marriage or power

AGE OR ERA: Original, authentic old handmade antique ring - very roughly estimating early 1300's in age, based on construction, materials, similar examples, and lettering style. Difficult to date for certain - due to lack of marks and timeless design. Your guess may be as good as mine on this unique piece

MARKINGS: None that I could find, other than the initials on the front of the ring

METAL / MATERIAL: 18k solid yellow gold, displaying a lovely patina and matte or bloomed finish that only time and use can provide.

MEASUREMENTS: Emerald shaped octagonal face measures about 1/2" x 7/16", band tapers to 3 mm in the back

WEIGHT: 4.0 grams on my scale
