Antique victorian book chain necklace link or components:
~ A unique reversible design or pattern on each side
~ Many links here - reconstruct / repair the necklace or use for parts and pieces
~ Two large connected runs and 3 each of smaller 2 and 3 piece segments
~ You could craft several necklace extenders or pendant holders for existing book chain necklaces with all of these panels
~ Ready and waiting for your workbench, collection, and/or gift giving - you will love these!
ESTIMATED AGE OR ERA = 1800's - Victorian period
METAL AND/OR MATERIAL = Gold plated or filled - original period catalogs state they have a "gold front"
CLOSURE/CLASP = No clasp remains - I imagine it had an oversized spring ring closure at one time - there is a 2 panel segment with an attached loop
MARKS = None that I could find
MEASUREMENTS = Each square panel is aprox 5/16" x 5/16" or 9 mm x 9 mm
TESTING = The links test as 12k gold - I am assuming that there is a very thick gold plating or laminated face plate to make them test as such. I don't think they are entirely solid gold - but do have a nice finish to them
US RING SIZE = x
WEIGHT = 20.5 grams on my scale
CONDITION = As found and pictured antique condition - see pics. These are for repair or repurposing.
Please view & enlarge all photographs to closely inspect fine details and to determine the amount of patina, and/or wear. Most older pieces by nature normally have some degree of both and, unless severe, aren't considered damaged. I will do my best to note anything glaring or distracting. Utilize the scroll arrows beside the photos to allow yourself the opportunity to view them all. Pictures normally speak louder than words and individuals also interpret characteristics differently.
