    Very special vintage handmade brooch:

~ Created by artisan Lucinda Yates from Portland, Maine

~ Her motto is "Changing the World one Pin at a Time" - and I believe she has accomplished what she has set out to do

~ I love her work and can't say enough about the powerful messages she creates. Originally these were created to benefit charity and also to provide beautiful, affordable, high quality, giftable, wearable pieces of art. They are all of that and so much more. I am in shock and awe that pieces of paper can come together to speak so loudly and evoke such thought and emotion

~ This example is from her "House Pins" series

~ Colorful bits of heavy paper cut outs are stacked, layered and arranged to create this scene with houses, a bird house, and a cat watching two birds in flight

~ This one has a bold late 80's / early 1990's color scheme of aqua or sea green, shades of blue, and bubble gum pink on a rich jewel toned striped background that reminds me of a sunset at dusk or a colorful night sky with just very light sprinkling of glitter that reminds me of stars

~ Perfect jewelry piece or gift for the bird or cat lover, bird watcher, collector of bird houses, veterinarian, or Realtor / real estate agent etc

Ready and waiting for your lapel, wardrobe, collection, or gift giving - you will love this!

AGE OR ERA: True vintage piece - she made these as early as 1989 - this most likely dates from the 1990's

MARKINGS: Original sticker on the back that reads HOUSE PINS by Lucinda, www.lucinda.com with a phone number - and what I am assuming is the original price penciled in of $20

METAL / MATERIAL: Heavy paper with a special thick resin or acrylic type coating to protect and preserve the work

CLASP / CLOSURE: Standard safety style pin east west set back

    MEASUREMENTS: Aprox 1 5/8" x 2 1/8"

    WEIGHT: x

    TESTING: x

    U.S. RING SIZE: x

"A picture is worth a thousand words"

Please view & enlarge photographs to closely inspect fine details and to determine the amount of patina and/or wear. Most older pieces by nature normally have some degree of both and, unless severe, aren't considered damaged and not mentioned. Individuals do have varying levels of desire and tolerance for "vintage charm" so do utilize the scroll arrows beside the photos to allow yourself the opportunity to view them all, as they are an integral part and extension of the description.
