ESTIMATED AGE OR ERA = True antique piece - circa 1800's

METAL AND/OR MATERIAL = Blackened metal setting with faceted black glass jewels

CLOSURE/CLASP = Hand fashioned early "C" catch - I would say most suitable for thicker fabrics or a larger amount of material to hold tension so the clasp holds better as it is a bit floppy or loose. Most likely designed that way as it was meant to wear on the high collar and had to accommodate quite a bit of fabric

CONDITION = Acceptable vintage condition considering the age, uniqueness, and rarity. There is a very interesting old old repair on one of the "C" shaped pieces. It looks to me like half or so had broken off and they hand formed a repair and partially filled the empty space with an unknown black material. An ingenious, resourceful and conservational repair. The remainder of the stones look to be intact and in great shape. In an excellent state of preservation
