Wildly interesting fancy old antique solid gold pin brooch:
~ Attention getting Maltese cross shaped
~ Has such a special regal or royal look
~ Fine enamel work in shades of cobalt blue, brick red, and white
~ The brick red enameling is transparent and the blue and white are opaque
~ Significant letters or monograms all around
~ Laurel leaf frame
~ Solid substantial 14k gold and genuine diamond
~ Perfectly imperfect - missing it's pin back... ideal candidate to repurpose or restore
Ready and waiting for your lapel, neckline, display, repurposing / upcycling, collection, or gift giving - you will love this!
AGE OR ERA: Original true antique jewelry item - broadly guessing 1800's, if not earlier. Hard to say with any certainty due to lack of marks and also elusive design and initialing that remains a mystery to me
MARKINGS: None that I could find. There are several letters, initials or monograms arranged around the pin that were meaningful. Two out of the four sets in the cross arms are intertwined ciphers - T and C and H and C - the other two singles are T and S
METAL / MATERIAL: Tests to be solid 14k gold, genuine natural diamond, and fine enamel work
CLASP / CLOSURE: Had pin back hardware, but has lost it's pin back along the journey
MEASUREMENTS: Aprox 1" x 1" across
WEIGHT: 4.2 grams on my scale
TESTING: Metal tested to be solid gold and the round clear faceted stone a genuine diamond - both with non-marring, non-invasive methods, of course
U.S. RING SIZE: x
INVENTORY NUMBER OR NOTE: x
CONDITION = Perfectly imperfect / Acceptable vintage condition given the age, rarity, and collectibility. There is a small amount of normal enamel wear, one small chip in the white centerpiece at about 5:00, and the pin back is missing. This would be a percent opportunity to customize by adding a jump ring and wearing as a pendant, making it into a fabulous ring, or restoring the original function and wearing as a brooch. This very special one of a kind piece still has lots of life left in it and I am hoping someone else out there also recognizes the value and can breathe new life into it

Please view & enlarge photographs to closely inspect fine details and to determine the amount of patina and/or wear. Most older pieces by nature normally have some degree of both and, unless severe, aren't considered damaged and not mentioned. Individuals do have varying levels of desire and tolerance for "vintage charm" so do utilize the scroll arrows beside the photos to allow yourself the opportunity to view them all, as they are an integral part and extension of the description.
