ANECDOTAL, METAPHYSICAL, &/or LORE: The Easter Bunny (also called the Easter Rabbit or Easter Hare) is a traditional folk figure that originated among German Lutherans. The bunny originally played a judging role, deciding whether children were good or bad at the start of the Eastertide season. Very similar to the "Naughty or Nice" list Santa Claus is well known for. As part of the legend, the creature carried colored eggs, candy, and sometimes toys in its basket to the homes of children. (Another similarity to Santa in bringing gifts to children on the night before a holiday). The custom was first mentioned in Georg Franck von Franckenau's (try it 5 times fast) De ovis paschalibus 'About Easter eggs' in 1682.
JUST FOR FUN - AI DESCRIPTION - (GENERATED BY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE): Add a touch of whimsy to any outfit with this vintage handmade wooden bunny rabbit pin. The intricate handywork showcases the beautiful brown wood tones of the piece, while the charming red bow adds a pop of color. Perfect for any special occasion, this brooch would make a lovely addition to a collection. The retro design evokes a sense of nostalgia, and the bunny rabbit theme is fitting for Easter, spring, or any day. Whether you're a fan of animals, holidays or nature, this unique piece is sure to delight.
CONDITION: Great vintage condition - normal amount of gentle vintage wear from age and use. Light overall crazing to the clear finish and a few tiny white specks or spots in the "eyebrow" area of the bunny - may or may not clean off. I haven't tried. Kind of adds some character in this case, in my opinion. Please study all photos to self-form an opinion of condition and gain additional item insight that only viewing photos can provide. A fantastic find in an excellent state of preservation.
