    Rarest of the rare vintage collection of *16* Art Deco era hair waving devices:

    ~ Up for grabs here today is a large group of authentic, original late 1930's Hair Waving contraptions - patent filed for on November 13th, 1936 and granted on June 8, 1937 (see pic).

    ~ These accessories were invented to create the iconic Art Deco era Finger Wave or Marcel Wave hair-do's of the 1920's and 1930's. The patent information states the "Invention is directed to hair waving and especially is concerned with an improved and conveniently controlled hair setting device for readily forming Marcel waves of the type 5 well known in the art"

    ~ This type of accessory in particular is invaluable to any one who has a need or desire to authentically recreate these iconic looks of the past - as these are very similar to the highly sought after and oh so hard to find "Mervin Wave Clip" - the gold standard tool to get the job done. This style of gadget is well known and widely accepted to be far superior and preferred to inferior and/or different types of wave makers. These smaller, mini versions are even harder to acquire

    ~ Notice the opposing ultra grippy teeth on the underside and curve of the clip that follows the contour of the head - very well designed and heavy duty construction. Made to last and has already time tested

    ~ Endless possibilities with a grouping of 16 pieces. No matter if you have a short bob, pixie cut, or flowing long locks - these should keep you experimenting and intrigued for quite some time. Plenty enough for you and your best friend to share or for everyone to try a few at your next girls party.

    ~ Some hints would include starting with wet or damp hair and plan to leave in for at least a few hours for best results, less time if you want a softer look

    Ready and waiting for your hair, collection, wedding, special day or gift giving - you will love this!

    ESTIMATED AGE OR ERA = Late Art Deco period - 1930's. Guessing pre-patent number issue (closer to the 1936 date) as there isn't a patent date stamped on the clips.

    METAL AND/OR MATERIAL = All aluminum metal construction

    CLOSURE/CLASP = Simply pull back the arched rod that is in the protective tube, insert into hair, and release to hold. Let the teeth do the rest of the work to direct and create the waves. Then pull again to release and remove from the hair when you are ready.

    MARKS = SOLO U.S.A.

    MEASUREMENTS = About 4 1/4" long x 1 1/8" wide. Just the toothed portion, business end, or "wave making" area when inserted into the hair and all teeth aligned (bar pulled all the way back) is aprox 3" long when measured from underneath

    US RING SIZE = N/A

    WEIGHT = N/A

    HISTORY, PROVENANCE, ANECDOTAL, METAPHYSICAL, SYMBOLISM &/or LORE: The art deco "Wave" hairstyle was created as a way of softening the hard appearance of the high fashion bob of the flapper era. Finger Waves and Marcel Waves both look very similar when completed - with the only real difference being the way in which they are produced or achieved. There are many antique and vintage hair tools and gadgets out there - but if you are looking for the best..... this is your chance to own and try the cream of the crop.
