Interesting wooden oversized safety pin brooch or pendant:
*Carved figural safety novelty pin
*Age / Era: I am guessing this to be 1920's to 1940's - bakelite era
*Closure: Tension pin - doesn't have much play...could be mainly for looks. I would string on a cord or chain and wear as a pendant
*Material / Metal: Laminated layered & carved wood body with brass / brass toned pin. Smells like bakelite when rubbed, but sure looks and feels like wood. It is carved - it is very evident on the inside along the layers you can spy the carving marks
*Marks: None that I can find
*Measurements: 2 3/4" long x 7/8" wide
*Weight: 7.3 grams on my scale
*CONDITION: Great vintage condition - no damage or quirks to mention. Pin doesn't have much play to open and wear. This may be just a novelty - or would work best worn as a pendant on a necklace. View & enlarge photographs to closely inspect fine details and to determine the amount of patina, and/or wear. Most older pieces by nature normally have some degree of both and, unless severe, aren't considered damaged. I will note anything glaring or distracting.
