Victorian Mourning Brooch: Carved Bakelite Leaf Cameo, Pierced Brass Frame

Very old antique black bakelite mourning pin brooch cameo:

*This is one of the oldest bakelite pieces I have ever seen

*Oval carved bakelite cameo is carved with a leaf in the center and elaborate designs all around

*Set into a very lacy fancy brass frame with hand etching or engraving to high light the pierced metal work

*It tested positive with the simichrome method and upon close inspection you can see the fine hand carving

*It measures 1 3/8" tall x 1 1/4" wide

*Pin back has an insert clasp with a turn stay

*CONDITION: Good vintage condition - no damage to mention. If you look under magnification the tips of the leaves may or may not have a few flea bites. I can't even say for sure if they do for sure - any irregularities may have be due to the initial carving and original to the pin. View & enlarge photographs to closely inspect fine details and to determine the amount of patina, and/or wear. Most older pieces by nature normally have some degree of both and, unless severe, aren't considered damaged. I will note anything glaring or distracting.
