Rare Vintage Deep Carved Black Bakelite Pin / Brooch with Delft Blue Porcelain Cameo Picture Nautical Lighthouse Sea Lake Ocean Scene

Fabulous vintage black bakelite brooch:

~ Deep carved black bakelite pin body

~ Inset with oval porcelain blue delft piece with sea / lake nautical lighthouse scene complete with tiny flag and birds

~ Very unique, rare material and color combination

~ Silver toned c clasp flip to secure pin back closure

~ Guessing this to be 1930's to 1940's in era - in great original condition

~ The bakelite tested positive with the rub and smell method. It did not test positive with the simichrome method, as many of the black pieces do not. The telltale carvings marks are also very prominent, especially along the scalloped edging

*Size: Overall the brooch is aprox. 1 3/4" x 1 1/4" - bakelite alone is about 1/4" thick - the cameo sits a bit higher when viewing from the side. The delft picture piece is about 1 x 3/4"

*Marks: None

*CONDITION: Great condition for the age - no flaws or quirks that I found. View & enlarge photographs to closely inspect fine details and to determine the amount of patina, and/or wear. Most older pieces by nature normally have some degree of both and, unless severe, aren't considered damaged. I will do my best to note anything glaring or distracting.
