~ OB jewelry is treasured and collected for it's beautiful design elements, fine craftsmanship, and historical significance. Their jewelry is hard to find, especially in good condition, and is escalating in both popularity and value.

Brief history - Mr. Engelhart Ostby studied at the Royal School of art and became a successful jeweler / goldsmith in his hometown of Oslo, Norway. After emigrating to America in 1869, he settled in Providence, Rhode Island and worked for several jewelry firms there. In 1879 the formed a partnership with Nathan B. Barton and created their business of Ostby & Barton. Engelhart was the founder and president of O & B Company, director of a bank and a trustee at another in Providence, named in a 1894 trade publication (The Jewelers Circular and Horological Review) as one of the directors of The Jewelers Board of Trade, and was also known for his charitable acts. He, unfortunately, perished on the RMS Titanic in April 1912.

*Measurements: Face is aprox 7/16" tall, band tapers to 3 mm in the back. Glass jewel is aprox 8 mm in diameter

*Marks: O.B. STERLING stamped on the inside of the band

*US ring size: 6.75 on my stick

*Weight: 6.8 grams on my scale

*Condition: Good condition for the age - There is very minor wear on the glass gem. The photos magnify/intensify/highlight quite a bit - it is honesty as not obvious in person and is in above average shape for a piece of this age, in my opinion.
