Fancy antique Victorian gold and garnet bar pin brooch:
~ Wide bar pin shape
~ Elaborate designs on the front
~ Reflective mirror like appliques frame the stones
~ Three garnet stones in buttercup settings
~ I do believe the stones to be genuine garnets as they vary ever so slightly in color and faceting
~ Metal composition appears to be a brass base with a very thick shiny rolled gold shell or plating
Ready and waiting for your lapel, collection, or gift giving - You will love this!
MARKINGS: None that I could find
WEIGHT: 12.0 grams on my scale
HARDWARE: Gold toned antique c clasp - east west set
MEASUREMENTS: Aprox 2 3/8" long x 5/8" wide - stones measure about 4 mm each in diameter
CONDITION: Great vintage condition - No damage to mention. I inspected the stones with 10x magnification with 10x power and didn't find any chips or cracks to report. Of the three settings - one is pushed down or sets lower than the others. The peg on the hinge end of the pin back may or may not be original to the brooch - but functions well either way. Clasp is in good working order
View & enlarge photographs to closely inspect fine details and to determine the amount of patina and/or wear. Most older pieces by nature will normally have some degree of both and, unless severe, aren't considered damaged. I will try my best to note anything glaring or distracting.
