Bold Antique / Vintage 1930's Laminated Bakelite Two Toned Oval Floral Carved Apple Juice & Cherry Red Dress Clip - Domed w Ruffled Frame

Bold 1930's vintage / antique laminated two toned bakelite floral dress clip:

~ Striking oval domed apple juice center intricately carved on the front side with flowers

~ Framed or inset in a ruffle carved cherry red border

~ Higher end screwed on silver toned clip hardware with a lacy filigree pattern that dates to the 1930's

~ Expertly executed construction, smooth even reverse side

~ The apple juice color is completely transparent and the red is semi-transparent. - towards the edges of the red ruffled frame you can see a lighter colored glow when held to a light source

*TESTING: Both colors test positive test results for bakelite using the Simichrome polish and rub and smell methods

*Measurements: 2 1/4" long x 1 5/8" wide x 3/8" thick (not included the depth of the hardware)

*Weight: 15.0 grams on my scale

*Marks: Pat 1852188 on the clip hardware - which was for the hardware concept invented by Elisha A. Phinney and dates to the 1931 / 1932 era

*Condition: Fantastic vintage condition - no damage to mention. The clip back hardware is in great working order. If I had to find a quirk to mention - the clip is set ever so slightly askew as is typical of these old dress clips - you will find that is the case in more examples than not. There are one or two mars that I believe are original to the clip and stem from the carving work or are just quirks of the bakelite material. See last pic. Intact, rare and lovely in every way
